For He+, $Z^{2} = 2^{2} = 4$

For the given process, the energy required $= 2^{2} \times \frac{2 π^{2} m e^{4}}{h^{2}}$

$= 4 \times \frac{2 π^{2} m e^{4}}{h^{2}}$

$= 4 \times 2.18 \times 10^{- 18}$

$= 8.72 \times 10^{- 18}$ J/ion.
