Question

Calculate the force experienced by a conductor of length 0.3m carrying a current of 1A, when placed in a uniform magnetic field of intensity 1.2N/A2.

Open in App
Solution

Step 1. Given data

Length of the conductor is, L=0.3m

Current is, I=1A

Intensity of the magnetic field is, B=1.2N/A2.

Step 2. Formula used

Force on a straight current-carrying conductor placed in a uniform perpendicular magnetic field, F=B×L×I

Where, B is the magnetic field, L is the length, I is the current.

Step 3. Finding magnetic force

F=BlI

By putting all the given values,

F=1.2N/A2×0.3m×1A

After solving we get,

F=0.36N.

Therefore the magnetic force is 0.36N.
