Question

Calculate the molecular mass of nitric acid, HNO3. (Atomic masses : H = 1 u ; N = 14 u ; O = 16 u)

Open in App
Solution

Given:
Atomic mass of H = 1 u
Atomic mass of N = 14 u
Atomic mass of O = 16 u
Therefore, molecular mass of HNO3 can be calculated as follows:
(1 × 1) + (1 × 14) + (3 ×16) = 63
Hence, molecular mass of nitric acid is 63 u.
