Question

Calculate the no. of atoms of Au in 1 gm of Au. No. of molecule of H2O in a drop of H2O weighting 0.05 gm, (Atomic mass of Au is 197).

Open in App
Solution

a) Gram atomic mass of Au=197g
197 g Au contains =6022×1023 atoms
1 gm of Au contains =6022×1023197=306×1023 atoms
b) molecule mass of water = 18 g
no of molecules in 0.05 g of water =0.0518=278×103 molecules
one molecule =6023×1022 atoms/ molecules.
2.78×103 molecules of water contains =(278×103)
(6023×1023)
=1.67×1021 molecules
