Question

Calculate the no of molecules present in one kg of calcium chloride

Open in App
Solution

Given weight = 1kg = 1000g

Calcium chloride - CaCl2

Gram molecular weight of CaCl2 = 40+71 = 111g

No. of mole of CaCl2 = Given weight/Gram molecular weight

No. of mole of CaCl2 = 1000/111

1 mole = 6.023*1023 Molecule

No. of molecules in 1000/111 mole of CaCl2 = (1000/111)* 6.023*1023 = 5.4*1024

Avagadro number NA = 6.023*1023

No of molecules present in one kg of calcium chloride = 5.4*1024 or 9.009 NA
