Question

Calculate the number of
(a) Oxygen atoms in 0.10 mole of Na2CO3. 10H2O
(b) gram atoms in 4.6 gram of sodium.

Open in App
Solution

(a)
1molecule of Na2CO3.10H2O contains oxygen atoms = 13
So, 6.023×1023 molecules (1mole) has atoms = 13×6.023×1023
So, 0.1 mole will have atoms =0.1×13×6.023×1023=7.8×1023

(b)

Gram atoms (moles)=given massatomic mass=4.623 = 0.2 moles or gram atoms
