Question

Calculate the number of:
a) particles in 0.1 mole of any substance.,
b) hydrogen atoms in 0.1 mole of H2SO4,
c) molecules in one kg of calcium chloride

Open in App
Solution

a) We know that,
1 mole contain 6.022×10²³ atoms.

So,
No. of particles in 0.1 mole of hydrogen = 0.1×6.022×10²³ atoms = 6.022×10²² particles (Atoms).

b) 1 mole of H2S04 has 2×6.022×10²³ H atoms
then,
0.1 mole has 12.044× 10²² H atoms..

C) Given weight= 1kg = 1000g

gram molecular weight of cacl2=40+71= 111g

no. of molecules=(given weight/gram molecular weight ) x avagadro number

(avagadro number = 6.023 x 10^23)

No. of molecules = (1000/111) x 6.023 x 10^23 = 5.4 x 10^24
