Question

Calculate the number of gram atoms and gram molecules of sulphur S8 in 8g of sulphur, atomic mass of sulphur =32

Open in App
Solution

Atomic mass of sulphur=32u

Since sulphur is found as molecule of formula S8

Molar mass of sulphur= 256g = 1 mole

Number of S8molecules in 256g of solid sulphur= 6.022×10^23

Number of molecules in 8g of solid sulphur= 6.022×10^23×8/256

=7.54 ×10^22molecules are present in 8g of solid sulphur.
