CaC2+2H2OCa(OH)2+C2H2
Number of moles of CaC2= Given mass of CaC2Molecular Mass of CaC2
= 640/64=10 mol
Since 1 mole of CaC2 produces 1 mole of C2H2
So, 10 moles of CaC2 will produce 10 moles of C2H2
According to the ideal gas equation,

PV = nRT

or
V=nRTP=10×0.0821×3001=250 L
Number of hours of service T = Total amount of Acetylene producedAmount of acetylene used per hour
