Question

Calculate the number of moles in 1 L water, also calculate the number of water molecules in 1 L water.

Open in App
Solution

Since density of water=1 g/cm3=1000 g/L, hence

Weight of H2O=1000 g

Number of moles=100018=55.59

Since 1 mole of H2O contains 6.022×1023 molecules of water, hence

55.56 moles of water will contain 55.59×6.022×1023=3.345×1025 molecules of water
