Question

Calculate the number Of moles, molecules and total number of atoms present in 1.1×104kg CO2 [C=12, O=16]

Open in App
Solution

No. of moles of CO2=wt.ofCO2m/wt.ofCO2
wt. of CO2=1×104kg=1×104×103gm
=0.1gm no. of moles of CO2=0.144=0.002273 moles
1 mole. contain 6.023×1023
molecule So 0.002273 more contain
=0.002273×6.023×1023
=0.01369×1023
=1.369×1029moleculsofCO2
The number of atoms are 3.
Thus the total number of atoms=3×1.369×1029=4.107×1029
