Calculate the percentage of available chlorine in a given sample of bleaching powder from the following data.
3.55 g of bleaching powder when treated with acetic acid and excess of KI liberated iodine which required 60 mL of 0.5 N sodium thiosulphate solution.

60 mL 0.5 N Cl2
Amount of chlorine =35.5×0.51000×60=1.065 g
% of available chlroine =1.0653.55×100=30.0.
