Calculate the power factor of this circuit and compare this value with one at its resonant frequency.

We know that the power factor of LCR circuit is given as

cosϕ=RZ

Z=R2+(XLXC)2

XL=2πfL

XL=200Ω

XC=12πfC

XC=12×50×100Ω

Z=1002+(200110000)2

The power factor is,

cosϕ=10010000+39960

ϕ=cos1(0.447)

=63.4

=1.105rad

At resonance, the inductive reactance is equal to capacitive reactance and they cancel out each other. So, the power factor at resonance is unity. Thus,

ϕ=1.105ϕresonance
