Question

Calculate the quantity of heat that will be produced in a coil of resistance 75Ω if a current of 2A is passed through it for 2minutes.

Open in App
Solution

Step-1 Given data

Resistance of coil, R=75Ω.

Current passing through the coil, I=2A.

Time taken, t=2mint=2×60sec=120sec

(Note- 1min=60sec)

Step-2 Finding the heat produced

According to Joule's law of heating, the heat produced in the coil is, H=I2Rt

Where,H=Heatproduced,I=Current,R=Resistor,andt=Time.

H=(2)2×75×120

H=36000Joule.

Hence, the heat produced in the coil is 36000Joule.
