Calculate the resistance between points X and Y in the circuit shown in the figure.

Across X and Y there are two resistance connected in parallel one is $40\Omega$ and other is wheat stone bridge

Equivalent resistance of wheat stone bridge is $R_1=\frac{20\times 20}{20+20}=10\Omega$ and other is $R_2=40\Omega$ coneected in parallel

$R_{eq}=\frac{10\times 40}{40+10}=\frac{400}{50}=8\Omega$

Hence the resistance across the X and Y is $8\Omega .$
