Question

Calculate the resistivity of an n-type semiconductivity from the following data: density of conduction electrons = 8×1013cm3, density of holes =5×1012cm3, mobility of conduction electron in =2.3×104cm2V1s1 and mobility of holes =100cm2V1s1.

Solution

Resistivity of a semiconductor is given by:
ρ=1σ=1e(nμn+pμp)
=11.6×1019(8×1013×106×2.3×104×104+5×1012×106×100×104)
=11.6×(18.4+.005)
0.034 Ωm
