Calculate the resonance energy of C6H6, using Kekule formula for C6H6 from the following data: (i) ΔH for C6H6=358.5kJmol1 (ii) HeatofatomisationofC=716.8kJmol1 (iii) Bond energy of CH,CC,C==C and HH are 490, 340, 620 and 436.9kJmol1. Report your answer in kj (only value).

For C6H6; 6C(s)+3H2(g)C6H6; ;ΔHexp=358.5kJ
Also, using Bond energy ΔHcal can be given as ΔHcalBondenergydatausedforformationofbond+B.E.datausedfordissociationofbonds
=[3×e(CC)+3×e(C==C)+6×e(CH)]+[6Csg+3×e(HH)]
=[3×340+3×620+6×490]+[6×716.8+3×436.9]ΔHcal=208.5kJ
Resonanceenergy=ΔHexpΔHcal
=358.5(208.5)=150.0kJ
