Calculate the temperature at which the reading on the Fahrenheit scale is double the reading on the Celsius scale.

Let the temperature be x^oC, then on the Fahrenheit scale the temperature will be 2x^oF.
Now, the relation between C and F is: C = ($\frac{5}{9}$)(F-32)
Putting the value of C = x and F = 2x in the above equation
We get, x = ($\frac{5}{9}$)(2x-32)
x = $\frac{10}{9}$x - $\frac{160}{9}$
- $\frac{1}{9}$x = - $\frac{160}{9}$
$\frac{1}{9}$x = $\frac{160}{9}$
x= 160
Hence, when the temperature is 160^oC, then on the Fahrenheit scale it will be 320^oF.
