Calculate the tension in the string shown in figure. The pulley and the string are light and all surfaces are frictionless. Take g = 10 $m/s^2$.

and T = 1a ......(ii)

From equation (i) and (ii), we get

1a +1a = 1g

$\Rightarrow$ 2a = g

$\Rightarrow a=\frac{g}{2}=\frac{10}{2}=5m/s^2$

From equation (ii), T = 1a = 5N
