Question

Calculate the volume occupied by 8 g of sulphur dioxide at S.T.P.

Open in App
Solution

1 mole of any gas at S.T.P = 22.4 L

Also, 1 mole of any gas = Molecular mass of gas.

1 mole of SO2at S.T.P = 22.4 L

Also, 1 mole of SO2= Molecular mass of SO2

The molecular mass of SO2= ( Mass of S+2×mass of O)

= ( 32+2×16)

Molecular mass of SO2= 64g

64g of SO2 occupies = 22.4 L

8g of SO2 occupies= 22.464×8

8g of SO2 occupies 2.8 L
