Question

calculate the volume of ammonia gas produced at STP when 140g of nitrogen gas reacts with 30g of hydrogen gas

Open in App
Solution

N2 + 3 H2 2 NH3As per the reaction given above, 28 g of nitrogen react with 6 g of hydrogen to form 2 × 17 g of ammonia.So for 140 g of nitrogen the amount of hydrogen needed = 628 × 140 = 30 g of hydrogen So we can calculate the amount of ammonia or volume from any one of the reactant.So28 g of nitrogen produces 2×22.4 = 44.8 L of ammonia.140 g of nitrogen produces = 2 × 22.428 × 140 = 224 L of ammonia is formed.
