Question

Calculate the work done (in KJ) required stopping a 1500 kg car, moving at the velocity of 90 km/hr.

Open in App
Solution

Velocity = 90 kmhr = 90 × 5/18 = 25 msec;

v1 = 25 m/s, v2 = 0

Work done to stop the car = 12 m v21 - 12 m v22

= 12 × 1500 × 252 - 0 = 750 × 625 = 468.75 KJ
