Question

Can a chemical change be reversed easily?

Open in App
Solution

Chemical change:

  1. A chemical change occurs when a substance(reactants) combines with another to form a new substance(Products).
  2. Chemical change includes the making and breaking of bonds the new substance(Product) formed is more stable and therefore, the change cannot be reversed.

Example of Chemical change:

Zinc(Zn) and hydrochloric acid(HCl) react to form zinc chloride(ZnCl2) and hydrogen gas(H2) but zinc chloride doesn't react with hydrogen gas to form zinc and hydrochloric acid.
Therefore, a chemical change is permanent and irreversible.
