Can a food chain start from an animal? Give reasons.

A food chain can not start with an animal. This is because every food chain requires certain organisms that have the ability to produce their own food. In most of of the food chains, the food is produced by green plants. An animal can not produce its own food and thus, a food chain can not start with an animal.
