Question

Can A Probability Density Function Be Greater Than 1?

Open in App
Solution

Unlike probability, a probability density function can have values greater than one.

for example,

The uniform distribution on the interval [0,12] has probability density š‘“(š‘„)=2 for 0ā‰¤š‘„ā‰¤12 and š‘“(š‘„)=0elsewhere.

Hence, probability density function can be greater than 1.
