Can an atom have no protons?

Solution

An atom must have protons.
An atom is made up of negatively charged electrons, positively charged protons, and neutral neutrons.
If an atom does not have protons, then the negative charge on the atom will increase and this will make the atom unstable.
So, for an atom to be stable and neutral it must have equal positive and negative charges.
