Can an object be in equilibrium when only a single force acts upon it? Explain

The answer is NO.

According to third law of motion, to every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction.
And equilibrium means balance.
There is a need to have balance of forces to keep an object in equilibrium. Equilibrium means sum of forces is zero.
Since only single force acts on an object,it cannot be in equilibrium.
