Solution

Bacteriophage

  1. Bacteriophage is a type of virus that infect bacteria. They are also known as phages or Bacterial viruses
  2. They can have nucleic acid as DNA or RNA.
  3. Phage follows two life cycles follows be lytic or lysogenic.
  4. In the lytic cycle, phages take over the host cell's machinery and make their components, and then lysis starts and releases new phages.
  5. In the lysogenic cycle, phages incorporate with the host nucleic acid and work as a unit without destroying the cell.
  6. Examples are Inoviridae, Microviridae, Rudiviridae, and Tectiviridae.

Phage Therapy

  1. In phage therapy, the bacteriophage helps treat humans against superbugs.
  2. Bacteriophages only kill bacteria or infect bacteria but do not harm humans.
