Hair algae:

  1. Algae is a group of photosynthetic eukaryotic organisms.
  2. Hair algae are also known as string algae.
  3. They are not generally toxic to fish but they can form huge nasty globs on the surface of the aquarium or water bodies and can entangle fishes.
  4. The fish and invertebrates get entangled in this mass which keeps them away from feeding due to which they die eventually.
