Open in App
Solution

Casein:

  1. It is a protein found in milk that is digested into smaller peptides primarily by the enzyme zymogen.
  2. It is an endopeptidase(cuts in the middle of the protein).
  3. Casein is also present in dairy products like cheese, butter, yogurt, etc.
  4. Humans can digest casein, but the process is prolonged.
  5. Enzymes involved in casein digestion are- chymotrypsin, pepsin, zymogen, etc.
  6. In absence of casein digestion, allergic responses in form of swollen lips, and rashes are generated by the immune system.
