Solution

Dear student,

To see the presence of carbohydrates, we get use the iodine test.
The carbohydrates found in our food is are the form of sugar(starch).
To test the presence of carbohydrate, we take a small quantity of food to be tested.Dilute the food with 2-3 drops of water. Then add 2-3 drops of iodine solution on it. If the colour of the food turns blue-black then carbohydrate is present in the food.
It is seen that potatoes contain 18% starch, hence it is a rich source of carbohydrates.
