Plaster of paris (CaSO4.12H2O):

  1. Plaster of paris is a white powdery chemical compound obtained from calcining gypsum.
  2. It is used as a sculpting material.
  3. When water is added to plaster of paris, the gypsum present in it crystallises and solidifies to give a firm structure.
