Question

can kinematic equations be used for non constant acceleration. if not how can it be used for circular motion which is accelerated motion

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

The derived kinematic equations:
v=u+ats=ut+12at2v2-u2=2as

Can not be used with non constant acceleration.

We can use these equation in circular motion assuming the path to be straight and magnitude of acceleration as constant.
Also we use :
ω=ωo+αtθ=ωot+12αt2ω2-ωo2=2αθ
In case of circular motion having angular acceleration constant.

Regards,
