Question

Can kinetic energy of a particle be negative? Explain.

Open in App
Solution

The kinetic energy of a particle can't be negative.

  1. We know, kinetic energy (KE) = 12mv2, where m is mass and v is the velocity of the particle.
  2. Both mass and square of velocity are always positive.
  3. Hence kinetic energy is always positive.
