can living things survive without the sun? give reason

Open in App
Solution

The sun is the ultimate source of the energy used by all living things present on earth either directly or indirectly. Plants used the sun's energy directly for photosynthesis, the process by which plants converted sunlight into food energy. whereas, animals indirectly uses sun's energy either they eat plants directly or they eat other animals that eat plants to obtain energy for themselves. Likewise some organisms living inside in the deep oceans also used sunlight for their survival. We can conclude that, without the sun our planet would get extremely cold which could lead to death of most of the living animals and plants those directly or indirectly dependent on sun's energy for their survival.
