Question

Can lymph vessels repair themselves?

Open in App
Solution

Lymphatic vessels:

  1. They are located throughout the body.
  2. They are larger than capillaries (the smallest blood vessels).
  3. They collect lymph from tissues throughout the body and return it to the venous system by collecting ducts.
  4. In case of lymphatic injury, mesenchymal stem cells (progenitor cells) help regenerate or restore lymphatic vessels.
  5. Therefore, lymph vessels have the ability to repair themselves.
