Peroxide (O22-):

  1. Peroxides are a highly oxidizing group due to the presence of two oxygen atoms which are bonded by a single covalent bond.
  2. As these groups are highly oxidizing so they oxidize all the impurities present around them.
  3. Hence, it can be used as a disinfectant.
  4. Peroxides like hydrogen peroxide H2O2 is used as disinfectant and bleach.
