Can petroleum be produced in the lab why and why not?

No we cannot prepare petroleum in the laboratory because petroleum is also called as fossils fuel, Over millions of years under high pressure and high temperature, the remains of organisms and plants buried under seas transformed into fossil fuels. Such type of environment cannot be created in a lab so we can not prepare petroleum in the laboratory.
