Solution
Photosynthesis
The process of conversion of light energy, water and carbon dioxide into starch or its other derivative for energy is called photosynthesis.
This cellular respiration is carried out by photosynthetic pigment chlorophyll.
It absorbs light energy and undergoes a series of chemical reactions to form starch which is utilized as ATP for energy.
Prokaryotes
These are primitive and simple unicellular organisms that lack a cell wall and other membrane-bound organelles.
Bacteria and archaea belong to prokaryotes.
Cyanobacteria or blue-green algae is a type of prokaryote that can undergo photosynthesis.
They have specialized grooved structures in plasma membrane resembling a chloroplast that houses chlorophyll.
It carries out photosynthesis in these grooved thylakoids.
