Solution

Rusting:

Rusting is the chemical change that takes place in Iron when it is kept open for a longer period of time the surface of the metal gets oxidised.

  1. Rust is a chemical substance that is soft, porous and brown in colour.
  2. Rusting occurs when Iron is exposed to the air for a longer period.
  3. It is a must for rusting that oxygen or carbon dioxide is present.

In Distilled water, there is no oxygen or carbon dioxide.

Hence, Rusting of Iron does not take place in distilled water.
