Green revolution can not be considered a sustainable agricultural practice. Reasons are:
The most prominent benefit of the green revolution was confined to specific regions that results in a socio-economic difference in the agricultural sector.
The most alarming effect of the green revolution is the impact of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on the ecosystem and thus on human beings' health.
The green revolution may have resolved the food crisis in India at a larger. Still, it cannot be considered a sustainable agricultural practice due to its downside on health and other harmful effects.
An approach toward a sustainable agricultural practice may not enhance productivity immediately, but can provide a better environment for future generations and will also preserve the natural resources.
