Question

Can the mass of a body change when it travels at a speed of light ?

Open in App
Solution

The rest mass, always remains constant. But the relative mass will increase when a body moves near the speed of light, not decrease. When it reaches the speed of light, its mass becomes infinite! And that is why, the speed of light travel is not possible! Cos, to propel an infinite amount of mass, we would need an infinite source of energy.
