Question

Can we hear echo in a small- sized room? Why?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The repetition of sound caused by its reflection from a rigid obstacle such as a cliff, hill, or wall of a building is called echo.
  2. The minimum distance between the source and the reflector should be about 17.2 m to hear the distinct echo.
  3. As the distance between the emitter of sound and its reflection is less than the least distance (17.2m) in a small room, no echo will be heard in it.
  4. Hence,we can't hear echo in a small-sized room.
