Question

Can y +5 be the remainder on the division of a polynomial f(y) by y -2?

Open in App
Solution

The degree of the remainder is always less than the degree of the divisor in case of polynomial division.
Since degree of divisor (y-2) is 1, the degree of remainder must be less than 1. But degree of (y+5) is 1. So it can't be the remainder.
