Down syndrome is a genetic abnormality caused when an extra copy of a chromosome 21 or partial chromosome 21 can form during cell division.
In Down syndrome, low developmental growth appears and has changes in developmental and physical facial character.
Children and adults have different facial characteristics with down syndrome. Some features are a short neck, protruding tongue, small head, and flattened face.
Down Syndrome can cause by three genetic variations as mentioned below.
Trisomy 21: In this case, an extra chromosome 21 can form during cell division.
Mosaic Down syndrome: In this case, fewer cells have extra chromosome 21.
Translocation of Down syndrome: In this case, a portion of chromosome 21 can become attached to the other chromosome.
In Mosaic down syndrome, fewer cells have an extra chromosome 21 so cells show fewer symptoms in the body. This is the condition of half down syndrome.
