Question

Can you boil water by passing steam through it?

Open in App
Solution

Water cannot be boiled by passing steam through it.
When steam is passed continuously in water, its temperature increases till 100oC and when water reaches 100oC heat transfer between steam and water stops and hence for boiling more heat is required after water reaches 100oC. But there's no heat transfer taking place. So water can't be boiled by passing steam through it.
