Solution

Cell division:

  1. Cell division can be defined as the division of the main cell into two daughter cells. It can be either mitosis or meiosis.
  2. In mitotic cell division the amount of genetic material is the same in the daughter cells as in their parents.
  3. In meiotic cell division the amount of genetic material is reduced to half in the daughter cells.
  4. We can consider cell division as a type of asexual reproduction in unicellular organisms because in the unicellular organism a single cell divides to form two identical daughter cells.
  5. For example, binary fission in Amoeba.
