Open in App
Solution

Electrolysis:

  1. Electrolysis is a process in which electricity is used to separate elements from a compound.
  2. For example: if we pass electricity through a solution of NaCl then both the ions of salt Na+ and Cl-separate to conduct electricity.
  3. Hence, sodium can be extracted from salt by the process of electrolysis.
