The items that we wash away into the rivers are as follows:

• Industrial wastes: Hot water from industries, effluents containing minerals
• Sewage and wastewater: Kitchen washing, domestic waste water from toilets
• Mining activities: Effluents containing heavy metals
• Chemical fertilizers and pesticides: Runoffs from agricultural fields
• Leakage from sewer lines: Excreta and other particulate matter
