Carbon dioxide, light, chlorophyll and water are the essential ingredients for photosynthesis. The major organ that performs photosynthesis is leaf. This is because it contains several chlorophyll molecules.
Part 2: Parts that perform photosynthesis
Any plant part that has chlorophyll is capable of performing photosynthesis. Given below are few of the plant parts that can perform photosynthesis:
● Petiole - leaf blade is attached to the stem via a stalk called petiole.
● Phylloclade - a modified stem that is green and fleshy
● Assimilatory roots - roots that bear chlorophyll and are capable of performing photosynthesis
